Prayer + Fasting 2025: No Longer Forget

“But then I recall all you have done. O Lord; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works.” Psalm 77:11-12 NLT

We are so encouraged! The ways some of you have shared that God has been speaking to you this week is just the beginning of all that He is stirring within His church. We believe He has so much more for each of us as we step into this “No Longer” season.

We want you to fully engage with Him in a really personal way today. So, there will be some homework!

There is so much power in what God is doing right here, right now. We certainly don’t want to miss it. There is a tool He has given us that can ignite the here and now and give us hope for the future. It’s called: memory. The Israelites forgot, so quickly, how God had led and redeemed them. He is certainly familiar with our forgetting. That is why He has told us in His Word to make memorials, in order to never forget.

The book of Deuteronomy commands God’s people not to forget nine different times. God knew we might forget, but also knew it was vital we didn’t. “But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and grandchildren.” Deuteronomy 4:9 NLT

Remembering is something throughout Scripture that we are commanded to do (Deuteronomy 6:12; 8:2, 11; Isaiah 46:9).  We’ve heard the statement: “We are what we remember”, and in a very real sense, the way we choose to remember our past shapes the people we are in our present and future. While we know there are many moments of life that are painful and difficult, what if we asked God to help us remember them through His love, His mercy? And to show us how He cared for us, even then?

Today, we want to ask you to do two things: think and thank. Would you take some time and just sit in His presence to ask, “Holy Spirit, will you help me remember?”.

He will! Watch what happens! Even if it starts in what feels like a small way, begin to write down what you’re remembering. Just be in that moment, fully. There’s not a right score on this… we know this is personal and God wants to remind you of some things He has done in your very own life. No one else can access that and no one can ever take it away! The power of taking the time to remember might just be the key to propel you into what is next with the Lord.

“Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!” Psalm 103:2-5 NLT

As you remember, begin to thank Him. Step into gratitude. Only you know the places He has redeemed you from. He’s been there all along. In every moment. But today, as you thank Him for the times He’s helping you to remember, capture it! Treasure it! And speak out loud:

“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.” Psalm 9:1-2 NIV

The Bible never says that God is forgetful, except in regard to this: “And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.” Hebrews 8:12 NLT

We love how it’s said in The Message:

“This time I’m writing out the plan in them,
carving it on the lining of their hearts.
I’ll be their God,
they’ll be my people.
They won’t go to school to learn about me,
or buy a book called God in Five Easy Lessons.
They’ll all get to know me firsthand,
the little and the big, the small and the great.
They’ll get to know me by being kindly forgiven,
with the slate of their sins forever wiped clean.”
Hebrews 8:12-13

He wants us to get to know Him firsthand, the little and the big, the small and the great.
That’s the way God wants us to know Him—by writing His goodness on our very hearts.

Then, how can we forget?

One of the most powerful treasures you could create is a place to write down the ways God has moved in your life, and who you know Him to be. When you come back to remember, there will be hope!

We have another worship playlist that might be helpful as you soak in His presence to purposefully remember today:
