Release: Something Has To Break

Good morning!

What a week we have to look forward to. We are blessed you have chosen to set this time aside to seek the Lord in surrender. It means you’re committed to allow Him to use you for His glory, and move in your life. We believe He’s going to speak to you!

Let’s begin with this word “release”. Some definitions are:
  • relief or deliverance from sorrow, suffering, or trouble
  • to free from confinement, bondage, obligation, or pain

As you’ve probably heard us say a lot recently, we believe it’s time to release some things in our lives so that the Spirit of God may be released fully in us. We have already been praying for you, as you are seeking the Lord in a very personal way. The best way to yield results in a time of fasting is to make it very personal— this is between you and the Lord, and the more access you allow Him, the more He can move in your life.

So, we ask this morning, what do you need to release?

Friends, we know many of you are facing difficult things. Some circumstances seem too great, situations can look impossible, perhaps there are places in your heart you don’t even know how to access. This week, you may be believing for breakthrough for a loved one, or you might be ready to break new ground in your own life and not go back to old things. Some of you may have felt bound up by unforgiveness, discouragement, disappointment, or rejection. Maybe you are longing for connection with the Holy Spirit— one you used to experience, or maybe haven’t yet. Whatever your purpose in fasting may be, here is what we KNOW with absolute certainty: we need a move of God! Only He can break open and release us from bondages and set us FREE. We cannot do this on our own.

Paul says to “throw off everything that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles us”. (Hebrews 12:1 NIV) That’s why we’re here today— to release anything that might be holding us back, to repent, and to respond to His calling us deeper. While we take today to come before God and ask these questions of what needs to be released, we pray that new revelation will unfold and we will begin to see with new eyes.

Another definition of release: to allow (something) to move, act, or flow freely. This is what we want for the Spirit! Let’s give Him permission to do whatever He desires.

Today is the beginning of brand new things for each of us.

We encourage you to listen (again or for the first time) to this message entitled Living in the Spirit (click to watch). As you’re praying today, listen with us to Something Has to Break (click to listen). We’re allowing Him to break us open so our spirit can touch LIFE!

You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer one.
You do not want a burnt offering.
The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit.
You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.
Psalm 51:16-17 NLT

Remember, the church auditorium is open from 7am-7pm every day this week if you want to come pray, take communion, or be at the cross.

We are praying for YOU!
