January 15th, 2023
Good evening family,
As we are preparing to begin this week of prayer + fasting, we are praying for you. There’s a reason why you’ve committed to set this time aside, and we know that you are going to encounter Jesus in new ways—like never before.
According to the Bible, there are three duties of every Christian: give, pray, and fast (Matthew 6). When all three disciplines are at work, you release the power of God in your life. It is an invitation from the Lord for us to lean into His power. It will be His strength that sustains us this week! We are intentionally minimizing distractions and normal routines in our everyday lives so that we may wholly devote ourselves to seek Him: with our minds, our spirits, and our bodies.
We encourage you to ask God about how you should personally approach this week. Regardless of how you feel led to fast, we know that the best results are yielded with three things: having a plan, knowing the purpose, and being fully present. Tonight, set the rhythm of your week by noting:
+ The type of fast God wants you to do (such as liquids only, a restricted diet fast, fasting from social media or television, as well as setting specific times aside to spend in prayer and worship)
+ What physical or social activities you will restrict
+ The specific and personal purpose of this fast for your life
Look for an email tomorrow by 7am (each day will also be posted on our website and app). Also, Monday—Friday the church auditorium will be open from 7am-7pm. Please set some time aside to come and just be in His presence. Here, you can take communion, put something on the cross, or pray. This is a great opportunity to be in the church in a different setting than you might be used to, and it’s purposeful. Come and dwell in His love.
At the end of the week, we’ll meet together Friday night, January 20 at 7pm for Worship Night.
Let’s come hungry for a fresh encounter with Jesus. We’re listening to this tonight as we prepare for the week: Nothing Like Your Presence. (click to listen)
Expect the Lord to speak to you. Expect Him to move. Expect to release things and expect for God to release His Spirit in you in fresh new ways.
We love you!
