Renew Your Mind
Good morning! We want you to know how excited we are that you are joining in this time of fasting and praying with us. We have no doubt that God is going to move mightily among us and through us as we pursue Him together this week.
Yesterday, we talked about resetting our patterns. Remember as we continue: all rehab requires participation, awareness and engagement. The more you are willing to re-learn, the more He can do!
There is no mistake that God continually talks about our minds in His Word. The mind is the place of intellect, reasoning, and intentions; our behavior begins in our mind, and the mind is where spiritual transformation happens. Think about this: your every day thinking will determine how your days, years, and ultimately your life plays out. Everything starts in the mind.
God has given us the creative power to partner with His TRUTH and walk in destiny! Let’s answer honestly— are we living this way? Our thoughts are key to our futures. There’s something to recognize in this process of rehab in order to have victory— the Bible says in Romans that there is a war against your mind! If you feel like you’ve been fighting negative thoughts— it’s because the enemy is on assignment to attack your mind.
For most of us, sometime in our life, there has been some kind of mind injury, if you will. Instead of taking a thought captive, we have allowed it to re-wire a certain pattern of thinking. Maybe it’s that we’re not good enough, maybe it’s that God isn’t really going to come through so we need to trust ourself. Maybe there are many thoughts that take residence in our mind that have no business there!
But good news! We have all authority and power to change the way we think, in order to change the way we live:
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:1-2 NLT
God’s Word says we can be transformed into a new person by changing the way we think— that’s amazing. Change your mind, change your life! Every thought in our unique, beautiful mind God has given us— it matters— so much. Over and over again in scripture God reminds us that we must set our minds upon things above, not what’s in front of or even behind us. When we line our thoughts up according to His promises, we start living in a new way.
If we think spiritually about “mind rehab”, maybe there are some things today that we can recognize that we need the Holy Spirit to help us renew. In brain rehabilitation therapy, the mind is able to be re-wired with the help of much practice. Therapy for the brain helps in these areas:
- Emotional problems
- Language problems
- Pain or numbness
Can you recognize any of these problem-areas in your life?
Movement— do you feel “stuck” in some area or need breakthrough?
Emotional problems— are you having a difficult time managing your emotions?
Memory— do struggle to remember God’s promises in the moment of “reality”?
Language problems— are your words creating life and hope?
Pain and numbness— do you have pain that needs healing, or sometimes even worse, have you become numb in things you should be feeling?
Both science and the Word proves that HOPE changes the mind, which changes EVERYTHING.
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 NKJV
It can feel a little overwhelming to look at the daunting process of renewing our entire minds. So, today, let’s keep it simple and even if we only create two true thoughts— that is enough to change the course of our morning, our day, and ultimately our lives. Mediate on these two things today and see what happens:
God is good and He loves you.
He created you on purpose with purpose.
As the week progresses, continue to take captive every thought that does not agree with those two statements. HOPE is powerful! And it’s yours in Christ!
We love you and are standing with you. Good things are happening!
Listen and agree with this in your mind today: King of My Heart
Good things are happening!
